8 Women
An all french cast that I mostly have never heard of? Subtitles? A murder-mystery set to music? All things point to a movie that I wouldn't be so excited about. But I've seen so much press about this movie that I am feeling *compelled* to see it. Of course I have no clue when our little Ithaca will acquire the film.. but it can't be soon enough.

Life Goals
I'm feeling a bit like an underacheiver the last few days. Two of my friends are making strides towards realizing HUGE life goals... one to buy a house and the other to have a baby. Granted, they're both a little older than I am... but my goals have sort of fallen by the wayside. Whatever happened to wanting to go back to school to get my MBA? What ever happened to *my* wanting to buy a house? Whatever happened to my goal of making a friend out of the counter lady at the coffee shop? All worthwhile goals, and none of them are really coming closer to becoming reality. (Well, that's not *entirely* true, the counter lady at the coffee shop greets me by name now...)

I make steps, but they're superficial ones... I bought a GMAT review book but I only open it when I have a frustrating day at work. I cancelled roadrunner and most of my cable at home to get my finances 'in order,' but then I spend more going out to see movies and buying CDs. I'm just not committed to my goals.

The other day I gave a friend shit because he wasn't sticking to *his* goals. Maybe that makes me a bit of a hypocrite. He has had the same goal for his entire adult life I assume, to lose weight. And he is telling me this straight-faced as we're eating out one night. My response? "Uh-huh, tell me your goal again *while* you're stuffing your face with the fried potato skins you just ordered." (That only *sounds* mean, it had a much friendlier delivery. *big cute smile*) He quickly accused me of not being supportive, to which I had to defend myself by saying, "I'm not unsupportive of your goals, just he way you go about acheiving them."

I should turn that statement back on myself more often.

Hey! I'm Shane... a proud gay progressive Democrat who has recently relocated to New York City from Ithaca, NY. As I am no longer in Ithaca, I haven't quite decided the fate of this blog.

Drop me a line!
