If voting is such a crucial democratic institution... ... then why not make 'Election Day' a national holiday?
I can't think of a better way to remind people (and encourage them) to vote than by giving them a day off work. Maybe we could replace 'Columbus Day' in October (why do we still celebrate this!?) with 'Election Day' in November.
